June 2006, John Hassinger graduated from Cedar
Crest High School and was eagerly awaiting to start a new chapter in his life. He was going to attend West Virginia
University on a soccer scholarship, continuing his passion for soccer at a Division One school and planning a career in business.
On July, 1 2006 John was vacationing with his family in North Carolina when he dove into unmarked shallow water, breaking
his neck and leaving him paralyzed from the chest down. In a split second, life for John and his family changed forever.
John has always been a fierce competitor as seen in the archives of Cedar Crest High School. He is one of the all-time
leading scorers in the schools 30+ years of soccer history. John went to rehab at Magee Rehabilitation in Philadelphia.
